Dr. Jackson continued his 45 schools tour with Black Mountain Primary School. Black Mountain Primary, or BMP, is a beloved community school nestled in the hills of the Owen district. Opened in 1981, BMP serves over 300 students grades K-3 with 74 staff members.
Black Mountain Primary is proud to be one of only 67 “A+” Schools in North Carolina. The A+ Schools program is a whole-school model supported by the North Carolina Arts Council, and views the arts as fundamental to teaching and learning. A+ Schools offer students the opportunities to develop creative and innovative ways of thinking, learning, and showing what they know.
“Black Mountain is a special community to live and learn in,” said Principal Kelly Owen. “Being a part of Black Mountain Primary means that you are part of a community that is proud to be a part of the Owen District. At BMP we are a tight knit school family that strives to Build Community, Make Memories, and Prepare for Success. We are BMP!”
