The Hero Two Doors Down

We are excited to start our One School One Book community reading experience on Monday, January 6th.

*What is One School One book and why do we do it? This is a shared reading experience that builds school community. We want to build enthusiasm and promote school/home collaboration as we read and participate in activities centered around one book.

*Who participates and where does it take place? All students, staff and families participate in this reading experience. The expectation is that students will use this for their nightly reading. The bookmarks have the reading schedule, Mon-Thurs (no holidays). If we miss a school day due to weather we will still stay on this schedule because they should have the book at home and be able to read it.  These books belong to the student, they may write in them and keep them at the end. .

*When will we begin? We will begin the book and activities Monday, January 6th.  It will take us three weeks (Mon.-Thurs.) to read the book.

*Bookmarks -The bookmark has our nightly reading schedule. This is intended to be a shared reading experience, so we encourage discussions to be had at home and in school.

*Trivia Questions- Teachers will be given a trivia question for their class to answer each day. From the correct answers submitted, one classroom will be chosen as the daily winner. This is should be a class discussion, not one child answering the question.

*Family Literacy and Technology Night -  Thursday, February 27th, 5:00 - 7:00

Doors will open at 4:45. Break out sessions will be every 15 minutes from 5:00 - 7:00. (More information to come).
