Welcome to the Enka Intermediate School

String Orchestra Web Pages!

We are now a FULL YEAR String Orchestra!!!
We are VERY excited to now have a full year program for our Enka District Schools!
Our string orchestra classes will begin now, August 27th rather than having to wait until January.
Parents, this means you need to obtain an instrument for your child as soon as possible.
Our first class will be August 27th, and it is important that your child has a QUALITY instrument for class and at home practice. Here are some ways you can obtain an instrument for your child, and, as always, you can email me at paul.zinke@bcsemail.org with any questions, I'm happy to help!

There are 3 main ways to obtain an instrument for your child: rent from a shop, rent from the school, or purchase your own. Below are my suggestions about these three options.

1) Rent from a shop. This is by far the best option in my opinion. You are guaranteed to receive a quality instrument that is the correct size for your child. Most shops have a rent-to-own option. My favorite place to rent instruments from is the
Stone Cottage Band Instrument Shoppe (they carry strings as well) 828-456-4880. They have the best rent-to-own program that has a 100% equity for future purchase, even if you size up or change instruments! You can even call or sign up online and they will deliver your child's instrument to the school!

2) Rent from the school. Enka Intermediate does have a small, limited selection of instruments available if renting from a shop isn't right for you. They are still decent quality, though they are not as strong as instruments from a shop. You also cannot build rental equity or purchase from the school.

3) Purchase your own instrument. This can be a tricky and costly option if you're not careful. There are numerous false instruments available on the internet, even from trusted sites like Amazon, please never purchase an instrument from that site. These fake instruments LOOK beautiful, but are completely incapable of creating pleasant sound. They are not only a waste of time and money, but they damage the enthusiasm of the student due to how frustrating they are to use.
The only sites I recommend are Sharmusic.com and SWStrings.com. They carry quality instruments and have a knowledgeable staff that you can call and speak with about your purchase.

We are very excited to have a full year program and can't wait to see everyone on August 23rd at meet the teacher day, or the 24th for our first day of school.
