Meet the Title 1 Staff of Enka Entermediate


Mr. Bay
Mr. Bay
Mr. Bay is a retired Air Force Captain and father of two adult children. He most recently retired from Buncombe County Government where he served as the county's internal auditor and as an information technology professional. He truly loves being with and teaching children.


Mrs. Brown
Mrs. Brown has been teaching Language Arts and drama for more than fifteen years. She moved to Asheville six years ago after living and teaching in England. She enjoys being able to combine teaching techniques from both countries to help her students overcome challenges and succeed. She is enjoying her work with small groups as a Title 1 tutor at Enka Intermediate School.

Mrs. Dunnagan is very happy to be part of the Title 1 team at Enka Intermediate. Go Jets!

Ms. Ellis
Ms. Ellis is excited to be part of the new Title I program for the 2017-2018 school year. She is looking forward to working with students, staff and families as we work to ensure that all Enka Intermediate School students meet challenging state academic standards.  

Mrs. Gillette
Mrs. Gillette
Mrs. Gillette's primary role is a wife of 20 years and mother of three boys. She has just begun her journey as a Title 1 assistant at Enka Intermediate at the start of the 2017-2018 school year. She is enjoying working with the students and is looking forward to a great year as part of the EIS team!

Mrs. Grandfield
Ms. Grandfield
Ms. Grandfield is an art teacher who loves helping children learn on all levels. She has spent the last few years teaching, tutoring and working in children's theater. She has a special interest in reading and writing because she believes, "If you teach a child to read and write, you are giving them the skills they need to be successful". She also has a masters in Curriculum and Instruction. She believes that, "When you can access where a child is, you can give them new tools to take their learning to the next level".

Mrs. McMahon

Ms. McMahon is a first-year Title 1 assistant.A communications major from Auburn University, she spent years in corporate America writing and producing brochures, documents, and presentations. 


Mrs. Waldrop
Mrs. Waldrop
Mrs. Waldrop has taught for 30 years and is excited to be a part of the Title 1 team at Enka Intermediate. She enjoys teaching reading and working with small groups. Her family is very important to her and she enjoys spending time with her two grandsons.

Ms. Walker
Ms. Walker
Ms. Walker is a recent graduate from UNC Asheville, where she worked in the writing center for four years and received her degree in English Literature. She views teaching as a chance to share her passion for reading and writing with others, and to help every student find the joy of learning.
