Holiday Assistance Programs 2021

If you are in need of assistance during this upcoming holiday season, please seek assistance from one of the agencies listed below. Many of these agencies are already accepting applications and have deadlines! Waiting until after Thanksgiving could reduce the likelihood of receiving assistance from some programs!

1. Eblen Charities: St. Nicholas Project (828) 255-3066

  • Only two parents/guardians allowed to shop due to COVID restrictions
  • Do not sign up for more than one spot per family
  • Include names and ages of all children you are shopping for in the comments section
  • Bring parent/guardian ID, social security cards or birth certificates for each child.
  • You will only have 30 minutes to choose two gifts per child, please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your shopping time
  • 6ft social distancing will be in effect while you are shopping or waiting in line
  • Masks will be required; you will not be allowed in the store without a mask
  • If you make an appointment and you cannot keep it, you must cancel your appointment online and make a new appointment; only scheduled shoppers are allowed in the store
  • You will not be allowed to shop at a tater date/time due to limited number of people allowed in the store
  • If you are not able to shop for your child, a family member can shop in your place. They must provide a signed note by the parent/guardian and provide the children's social security cards/birth certificates.

2. ABCCM: Christmas Angel Program 24 Cumberland Avenue, Asheville NC 28801

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Need to bring: Parent/guardian 2 forms of identification, and social security numbers for each child.


3. Operation Santa, The Arc of Buncombe County (828) 253-1255

Assists persons of all ages with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

4. The Salvation Army is taking phone calls 10/6-10/15 for individuals to make an appointment for their Angel Tree signup. TSA is doing everything remotely on the application process this year because of COVID. We will follow up with phone calls for the individuals who have called and schedule an appointment on their appointment day/time. Please encourage all client to call by 10/15 to ensure that they get an appointment.

The Christmas assistance program is for children AGES-0-18 must be in school in Black Mountain, Swannanoa, Ridgecrest, East Asheville, and Montreat.

Community services information. A line that helps connect people with health and human services and Christmas Assistance Programs.

Call 211 to speak with a referral specialist.
